Stitchup RR-janalynn

To wellie or not to wellie? That is the question. The answer to that question for us, we have Janalynn. Since the fall and into winter I have been seeing more and more wellingtons afoot. I really dig when someone can make the rubber monsters work by contrasting them with other interesting pieces. I think Janalynn pulls that off wonderfully here. The classic cut of the coat and floofy skirt kind of contradict the down-home nature of the boots and hand knit hat and scarf set, but it works.

Wellingtons, also known as rubber-boots, wellies, topboots, gumboots, barnboots, muckboots or rainboots, can be a polarizing topic. A friend of mine loves them, but her partner absolutely hates when she wears them. I mean, yeah, there’s definately a time and place for the wellington, but how can such a simple piece of footwear divide so much?

What do you think about the rubber boot? I’m interested to know.

This Is an archive of a 3 year long project i created for the soon to be defunct "TheScope" arts and entertainment magazine. t’s not a new idea, there are a million and one street style photographer’s these days. But just as with my ACITYLIKEOURS project i like the idea of documenting Our space in this period of time. Our little space on this planet though not as isolated as years past, has its own take on style that comes from its rich history and connection with the sea that surrounds us. I like to think of this project as a typology of personal style.
